What is Late Shift?
Late Shift is a local delivery and errand service. It also includes a Marketplace of listings available for delivery, and Local Spots, a catalog of places our driver has come across nearby.
Where is Late Shift available?
Late Shift operates by active service area. Choose your area in the app to see current availability. Active service areas right now: Fairfax, VA.
How do I choose my area?
You can pick your service area manually in the app, or let the app use your device location to suggest one. Whichever you choose is remembered as you browse.
Do I have to share my location?
No. Sharing your exact device location is optional. You can always choose your service area manually instead.
What happens if my area is unsupported?
If you're outside an active Late Shift service area, requests aren't available there yet. You can check back in the app as service areas change.
What is Local Spots?
Local Spots is a catalog of places our driver has come across while working. It's a discovery tool, not a live merchant inventory system.
Are Local Spots verified merchants?
No. A business appearing in Local Spots does not mean it is verified, partnered with Late Shift, or officially endorsed. Listings are informational observations, not merchant claims.
How does Local Spots pickup work?
You order and pay the merchant directly, on your own, first. Once you have made that purchase, you can request Late Shift to pick it up and deliver it to you where pickup is available.
Do I pay the merchant through Late Shift?
For Local Spots pickup, no — you pay the merchant yourself, and Late Shift is not part of that purchase. For an Errand, Late Shift may shop and pay on your behalf as part of the errand you request. For Marketplace, you check out and pay for the listing through Late Shift.
What is an Errand?
An Errand is a request where Late Shift may shop for and/or pay for items on your behalf, based on what you describe, subject to the Driver reviewing and confirming the request.
What is the Marketplace?
Marketplace is a catalog of listings available for purchase and delivery through Late Shift, subject to your service area and current stock.
How are Marketplace delivery fees calculated?
Delivery fees are calculated on the server, based on the distance between a listing's fulfillment origin and your delivery destination. Exact origin locations are kept private.
Can Drivers see my location?
A Driver receives operational location information only when authorized for the specific work assigned to them, such as an active delivery or errand.
How does Late Shift use location information?
Your device location may be used briefly to help suggest a service area. What's saved as a browsing preference is your selected area, not your precise GPS coordinates. Addresses you provide for a delivery or errand are used to carry out that request.
Can service availability change?
Yes. Service areas, hours, and what is available can change over time. Check the app for current availability.
